Göt 2b Powerful Volumizing Powder vs. Sally Hershberger Supreme Lift

A very good friend of mine recently purchased the famous göt 2b powerful volumizing powder by Shwarzkopf and was kind enough to lend it to me to try out. I was very excited for this product because I had heard amazing reviews on it from all beauty guru's and was eager to see if it lived up to the hype. I was already happy with my Sally Hershberger Supreme Volume, which I reviewed a couple weeks ago, but I wanted to see if the göt 2b was even better.

I couldn't have been more disappointed. I scrunched up my roots with the powder (which honestly just gave me horrific bed hair), and though it did initially volumize my hair, it fell flat in just a few minutes. And the texture was just awful: super crunchy and somewhat sticky. I'm sorry to say that the cons just keep going; I've been told by a hair dresser and by my good friend that the product is very difficult to wash out in the shower. I also found the area with the powder impossible to brush after application.

The Sally Hershberger Supreme Lift never gave me any problems. The spray produced lasting volume, smelled great, the texture felt like the lightest mist of hairspray (and even that faded over time), and it always washed off very easily. And I personally prefer sprays over powders, I just find that it's much easier to apply a product with liquid spray.

The göt 2b powder does work for many people, but I'm simply not one of them. However, it is a cheaper alternative to the Sally Hershberger spray. The göt 2b powerful volumizing powder is $6.99 and the Sally Hershberger is twice the price at $12.99.

Let me know which product worked for you and which one you would like to try out :).

Sally Hershberger Supreme Lift: Miracle Product?

I just returned from a long stay in the UK and absolutely loved it! While there, I noticed that my hair had much more volume- most likely due to the "hard" water. However, my home in Canada has "soft" water and as soon as I returned, my hair went back to being its usual limp self. I have been struggling with flat hair for ages due to having really straight thin hair. But after having a moment of blissful volume, I decided to find a solution.

So I went out to Shoppers Drug Mart and found this:

The Supreme Lift spray by Sally Hershberger. I was a bit skeptical about purchasing it but after seeing such good ratings of it online, I gave it a shot. And I'm so thankful that I did! It is officially my go-to-product after each shower. With this spray, my hair actually ended up looking thicker! It worked by lifting the roots of my hair, giving it more of a bounce. I would recommend this product to anyone who suffers from flat, thin hair.

Directions of use: "Spray generously into towel-dried hair, making sure to reach the roots. Comb through with finger tips, add other styling products if desired, then blow dry."
I very much agree with the instructions. A couple sprays won't do the trip, nor will air-drying your hair.

Pros:
It does what it claims to do: "plumps & power up limp hair"
Safe for color-treated hair
Pleasant smell
Protects hair from heat styling
Lasts all day

Extra special pro: PREVENTS HAIR FROM BECOMING OILY. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that my 'second day hair' was still 100% clean! Normally, I'd use some dry shampoo on the second day but if I use the spray after washing my hair the previous day, I don't need to. I think the reason behind this is the fact that it actually lifts the roots of your hair so it isn't so close to your scalp. Either way, this is by far my most favorite effect.

Cons:
Personally, I wouldn't consider the first one a con since it doesn't bother me, but I figured some people would:
  • it leaves the area where you sprayed with a texture as if you used a tiny bit of hairspray. But since you only really use the product for the top of your hair where the roots are, one really doesn't notice it.
  • A bit expensive. The original price is $12.99 for 125ml. I happened to buy it for $10.99 since it was on sale. It's a bit on the pricey side, but still affordable.

Overall, I am in love with this product and will definitely repurchase it :).
